Biography
Born in Minsk, Belarus, and now based in Prague, Czech Republic, Katsiaryna is a self-taught watercolor artist. While she enjoys experimenting with different artistic mediums, she inevitably returns to watercolor. Inspired by quiet harbors, coastal landscapes, and the changing qualities of light, she creates atmospheric paintings that combine expressive washes and techniques with careful observation. Through watercolor, she explores moments of stillness and the quiet beauty of everyday places.
Project Statement
While I enjoy painting a wide range of subjects, I often return to quiet harbors and coastal scenes because I’m drawn to their calm atmosphere and constantly changing light. Boats, in particular, fascinate me. To me, they feel like quiet observers, remaining in place through changing weather and seasons while silently witnessing the passing of time. Their stillness reflects what I hope to capture in my paintings—a quiet moment that invites the viewer to slow down. Watercolor allows me to express this sense of calm through soft washes, reflections, and expressive brushwork.
