Biography
Nevena Bogdanović is a self-taught visual artist based in Vienna, Austria. Working primarily with acrylics, she creates figurative paintings that explore women’s inner worlds, emotional struggles, vulnerability, and resilience. Her work focuses on the invisible experiences that shape a woman’s identity, expressing complex emotions through expressive figures, atmosphere, and symbolic imagery. In 2026, her work was presented at City Gallery Vienna and Arrival Gallery Athens. She was also selected as a finalist in the AweSnapp online exhibition with her painting Burden. Her artistic practice explores the relationship between pain, strength, identity, and personal transformation.
Project Statement
My paintings explore the emotional states of women — the silent struggles, inner conflicts, burdens, and moments of liberation that often remain unseen. Through figurative acrylic painting, I seek to give form to emotions that are difficult to express in words. The human figure becomes a space where vulnerability and strength coexist, while atmosphere, gesture, and symbolism reveal the tension between what is visible and what is felt. My current body of work, State of a Woman, reflects different stages of an inner journey: carrying pain, confronting oneself, and searching for freedom. I do not aim to offer simple answers, but to create an emotional encounter in which viewers may recognize fragments of their own experiences.
