Leonor Trindade Sousa

Biography

Leonor Trindade Sousa was born in Vagos, Aveiro, and grew up in Espinho, where she completed her secondary education in Arts at the Dr. Manoel Laranjeira High School. From an early age, intuition, curiosity, and artistic sensitivity awakened in her a deep connection with the universe of arts, especially painting. At the same time, she also revealed an interest in areas such as poetry, crochet, embroidery, and decoration.
A self-taught artist, she found in art the most authentic way to express emotions, thoughts, and causes that she embraces as her own. Her artistic language encompasses different styles and techniques, from figurative to abstract, exploring diverse materials and instruments, both in oil and acrylic, in a constant search for innovation and creative freedom.
Over the past few years, Leonor Trindade Sousa has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Portugal and internationally, taking her work to countries in Europe, America, Asia and Africa, including France, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Denmark, Hungary, Turkey, Brazil, Mexico, Guatemala, Ecuador, India, the United States, Argentina, South Korea, Japan, Iran, Egypt, Dubai, Mongolia, Thailand and Jordan.
She has been distinguished as an Ambassador of Portugal in different international artistic projects, namely in Denmark, Italy, Brazil and Guatemala. In 2019, in collaboration with the Sailors of Hope, she donated two works that are currently part of the Museum of the Caribbean in Colombia.
Her artistic career has been recognized with numerous international awards in cities such as Rome, Venice, Florence, Milan, Lecce, Cesenatico, Mantua, Paris, Nice, Saint Paul de Vence, Barcelona, Cannes, New York, Washington, Dubai, and Monaco, highlighting distinctions such as Grand Master of Arts, Artist of the Year, Great Women of Art, Artistic Creativity, and Artist of Excellence.
She has also participated in important international publications and books on contemporary art. In April 2025, she launched her first book of poetry, “Nesses desencontros onde me encontro” (In These Disencounters Where I Find Myself), and in 2026 she launched her second book, “Sinopse da Alma” (Synopsis of the Soul).
Her work reflects strength, sensitivity, freedom, and a profound human commitment. Between irreverence and delicacy, Leonor transforms emotions into art, keeping alive an artistic identity marked by experimentalism, authenticity, and a constant desire to communicate through creation.
